Our Business

Committed to providing the best quality products to our customers in UAE and the international markets

Overview

We make cement, which is the most important industry in Ras Al Khaimah and an integral part of its economy. Since the commissioning of our first line in 1975, we have been consistently adding capacity and reaching new geographies both in the domestic and international markets. Leveraging our proximity to the Mina Saqr Port, we capitalised on the opportunity to serve the Middle East and major African markets. We have built a diverse product line and packaging modes to give the best possible service to our customers.

In addition to quality products and exemplary customer service UCC has consistently achieved high rating of In-Country Value (ICV) certification. In-Country Value (ICV) program is a progressive initiative in UAE which measures an entity's contribution towards the local economy. The program highlights, Emiratization - creating additional employment opportunities for Emiratis in the private sector, GDP Diversification - supporting UAE's GDP diversification through sourcing more Goods and Services within the UAE; and Strategic Considerations - localizing strategically critical parts of the value chain for selected categories. As per the Financial Statement ending 31 March 2021, UCC has an ICV score of 78.46%.

Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)

  • EN 197-1:2011, CEM I, Class 42.5 N & EN 197-1:2011, CEM I, Class 42.5 R
  • TYPE I CEMENT, According to ASTM C 150
  • OPC – 53 & 53S Grade, according to IS 269: 2015 for exports to India

OPC the most common type of cement which is extensively used. It has good resistance to cracking and dry shrinkage.

53 & 53S Grade OPC: For concrete grades higher than M-30, pre-stressed concrete works, bridge, roads, multi-storied buildings, and cold weather concreting.

Sulphate Resisting Cement (SRC/MSRC/HSRC)

  • BS EN 197-1:2011;SR 5, 42.5 N LA.
  • TYPE II CEMENT, according to ASTM C 150
  • TYPE V CEMENT, according to ASTM C 150

Sulphate resisting cement is manufactured by keeping the percentage of C3A below 5%. This cement has reduced contents of C3A and C4AF and is primarily used in construction exposed to severe sulphate action by water and soil (alkaline conditions) such as canal linings, culverts, retaining walls, siphons etc.

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS)

  • Conformance to BS EN 15167-1:2006 & & ASTM C 989

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is often used in concrete in combination with Portland cement as part of a blended cement. Concrete containing ground granulated slag develops strength over a longer period, leading to reduced permeability and better durability. This previously unwanted recycled product is used in the manufacture of high performance concretes, especially those used in the construction of bridges and coastal features, where its low permeability and greater resistance to chlorides and sulfates can help to reduce corrosive action and deterioration of the structure.

Oil Well Cement (OWC)

  • API CLASS G (HSR) WELL CEMENT
  • API CLASS B (HSR) WELL CEMENT

Oil Well Cement is used for cementing work in drilling the walls of 'on-shore' and 'off-shore' oil wells that are subject to high temperature and pressure. Composed of Portland cement with special organic retarders, oil well cement is made under strict quality control systems and meeting stringent API standards.

Portland Cement Clinker

  • Cement Clinker suitable to produce ordinary Portland cement conforming to BS EN 197 – 1 (Strength class 42.5 N/R), ASTM C 150 & IS 269: 2015 Standards
  • Cement Clinker conforming to IS 16353:2015

Cement clinker is a solid material produced in the manufacturing of Portland cement as an intermediary product. Clinker occurs as lumps or nodules, usually 3 millimeters (0.12 in) to 25 millimeters (0.98 in) in diameter. It is produced by sintering (fusing together without melting to the point of liquefaction) limestone and aluminosilicate materials such as clay during the cement kiln stage.

Quality Control

We at UCC are committed to manufacturing products of the highest-standard and providing exemplary customer service. We were the first cement manufacturer in UCC to have obtained ISO 9000 certification in 1994 and later added the American Petroleum Institute (API) Spec Q1 certification and ISO 14001 certification to our portfolio. Taking a step further we got certified on OHSAS 18001, which was a proof of our commitment to the Health and Safety of employees.
